  • Who is Lowpitch?

Kiara: Lowpitch is a band. So you should really ask “Who ARE Lowpitch?”. We are 2 guys and a lady, we met in a recording studio some 8 years ago and we become friends. But we didnt actually play music toghether until 2009.

  • Ok, can you let me know more about it?

Sygo: Sure! Well Kiara and dj Krash were playing toghether back then under the name of U-Topia. U-Topia was basically the first ever Trip-Hop band in Italy. They released 3 albums and received great praise from press and fans worldwide. They were considered an essential listening for sites such as Tripofagia or Trip-Hop.net. They needed a proper mixdown for their album ‘I Slept Less Last Night’ so they came to my recording studio. I was very pleased to work with them and we became friends quite naturally.

Krash: Yes, but Sygo wasnt only an audio producer. Hes a workaholic guy who plays guitar and also made some big steps in the drum and bass worldwide scene. When we met, he was djing in the best clubs in Italy and europe (Innovation In the Sun, Sun and Bass, Maffia, Interzona, Pergola, you name it…) and producing hot tracks for labels such as Formation and Charge with his project S.M.O.K.E.

  • Drum and bass DJ? Then why is he now playing in a band?

Sygo: Well, i was playing in a band even before the drum and bass thing. But to really answer: i needed something different. We met at Krash house for one of our epic dinners (we are food fanatics!) and ended up jamming in his studio. Ideas went flowing. When something like that happens, you cant fight it. You just have to go with the flow!

  • Got it. Now, what kind of genere you guys do?

Krash: …..uhm…

Kiara: …its fresh! (smiles)

  • Come on, give me some hints, how do i know if i like your music?

Kiara: Like i said first thing that comes to my mind it’s the word ‘fresh’. Obviously we bring all the influences of us as musicians and as music fans, but we dont aim for a single genre and repeat a formula. We really try to catch ideas when they fly around.

Krash: Yes, there are Trip-Hop and Hip-Hop influences coming from me and Kiara, and Sygo’s grunge and dnb approach to guitar and audio production. But theres more. We listen to many different things, like indie rock, dance, rnb, and all of that comes into play when we write a song.

Sygo: We like to experiment a lot in the studio. But in the same moment, we dont want to alienate the listener by making things too ‘experimental’. I think many people that, just like us, enjoys good music coming from different backgrounds, can understand what we do. Think of our music like something Madonna, Tool, Pharrell Williams, Mike Patton and  Tricky would create if they were working toghether. At least that’s what i get when i listen to our stuff!

  • I get this is mainly a studio project. Do you plan on playing live?

Krash: Of course we do! We decided to work on the songs first as studio producers, so that we wouldnt be limited by our instruments and really recreate freely the sounds in our head. But now we are building a backing band that will be able to play all this live. We plan to create a realy good show!

Kiara: We cant wait to go live! We found a bunch of really talented and forward thinking musicians! Its going to be electric!

Sygo: Rock and Rolll!!!!!!

  • You guys are  from Italy. Why dont you just make your songs in Italian language?

Kiara: We want to reach everybody who wants to listen. We dont want language to set up walls…its the age of global comunication, of social networks, we have many friends online and in real life who come from US, UK, Belgium, Japan, on and on…it comes just natural for us. We may do something in italian, but we really plan on being international.

  • Wow, thanks for answering all those questions. But couldnt you just make a standard bio page like every other band?

Oh well, if you really need that, here you are:

A few words to describe Lowpitch’s music: Eclectic, Vibrant and Fresh.

Blending echoes of the 90’s era of Trip-Hop and Grunge with some here and now production tricks in the full range of Timbaland and Pharrell, they surely are a refreshing band in this present music scene. On top of all that, Kiara’s vocals are just something special.

Lowpitch can rock hard or sing a song to your heart. Make you dance. Make you think. Electronic synths, hip hop beats, exotic pop vocals, rocking guitars, echoes of defractured dance grooves. Just like in a good fusion recipe meal, you think the elements wont be good together until you taste it.

Lowpitch is born unofficially in Rhodos, Greece in the summer of 2008 but lives and has home in Italy where Kiara, DjKrash and Sygo, coming from different backgrounds, decided to join forces to create a unique blend of music, their own.

“Eating Fish” is the debut single for Lowpitch, full album “Boxing Bet” due to September, 2009
Executive Production: Fingercross Records
